Re: Best Place to Get CO2

I got a OffRoadAir 10 lb "the source" tank a few months ago. Places to fill a CO2 tank are limited in Western Western MA (Berkshire County). One supply shop, (Airgas I think) would send out the tank to get filled $20, takes about a week. The only place I could find in the Pittsfield area t...

Re: Rocker gasket material options/suggestions?

I used a rocker gasket. http://www.quadratec.com/products/12003_500.htm

Some one on the old forum recommended a can of that tar based undercoating, which would be cheaper. I would guess you would want to let it dry, maybe 2 coats, etc. rather than mount the rockers with gooey undercoating.

Re: winch accessories

I "winch assessoried" up a few months ago. Got enough snatch blocks, Dlinks, straps & a winch xtention line to do the "winch backwards" thing. Now my winch assessory bag it to heavy to get out of my heap! Bought a few different types of each, just because. One note, Th...

Re: Backspacing 101 ... my idiot moment

Last year ( first year I had the 4.5" lift), I took it to where my mechanic suggested, cause he brings his off road crappy looking heap there and they pass it. He installed my lift and said I should have no problem anywhere though. I had the Cooper 32" last year. Even thought I have at lea...

Backspacing 101 ... my idiot moment

Well, I may be an idiot admitting having an idiot moment. But, just documenting a backspacing ?lesson learned? the hard way. Getting ready for my annual November Mass inspection. Last year I used my original 30? MTRs on the original Wrangler sport aluminum wheels as my ?inspection tires?. Passed no ...

Awesome Jeep Collection!! Welcome, from another Engineer from Pittsfield. Wonder if we work at the same place? I've seen something that might resemble your yellow JK that parks off Dalton Ave.

seatbelts / inspection question?

I took my rear seatbelt/shoulderstrap off to mount a CO2 tank on the sportbar of my '98 TJ. Then I thought: will this pass inspection? I'm due in Nov. The seat is out, but could be put back in. I know alot of folks have no back seat and no rear seatbelts, but from the looks, a back seat is history i...

Re: Frame repair

Ahh... frame repair... I have been looking into that quite a bit this summer with my "goal" to keep my heap for another 6 years at least. "Make your own" reinforcements seems to be the best way to go, for TJs anyway. Here are 2 photos of what I had done for "Phase 1". N...

Death Wobble - Fixed!

Just thought I'd share my first "Death Wobble" experience. Most experienced Off-Roaders are familier with the notorious "Death Wobble" and have experienced it. Well, I've been driving my heap for some 11 years now, but only started off roading and jeep modifications in the spring...

Re: Power washing your jeep good or bad?

I use a Sears 2900 psi, yellow tip (I think the tip color codes are industry standard). I use it on the paint and under the hood, just close enough to get clumps of mud off, or get it wet to sponge wash. I mainly use it for underneath. Had to rig up a "stubby" nozzel, about the size of a s...

Re: Goodyear MTR with Kevlar

This thread has heightened my curiosity. I have been running my MTR/Ks at 11psi. Some run soon, I want to go down to 7 or 8, just to see what happens. I'll pack a second spare tire though.

Rear Diff Plug Leaking?

I noticed I have diff fluid very slowly leaking from my rear Dana 35 diff plug. Its a rubber plug, rather than a screw in one. Not sure why. I pulled it off and cleaned it ( with the jeep on a grade so fluid wouldn't pour out). Still drips. Its only a few drops a day, so its not a show stopper, but ...

Re: Recomendations on replacement LCA mounts on a front axle?

I tore my lower control arm mount off last year. I had it welded on and a steel skid plate welded on the front on both control arm mounts. 3 sides welded. Its served me fine so far. I tend to think that welding plates on would be better than a a bolt on skid plate guard, since the bolt on skid plate...
