Re: Tire balancing with a product called equal?
I have had good luck with the air soft bb's in 33 Super Swaper TSL Radials. On my first set of used TSL's they worked great, people were surprised when they rode in the Jeep. On a new set of TSL's I got a vibration with them installed. Had a well known 4WD shop take them out and balance them with ta...

If you have time, I think Advanced Adapters would have the right one for you. You can try searching through their tech infor or talking to someone on Monday.

Re: Shock mounts
That first kit looked to be well thought out. This flip thing looks simple enough. Thanks Kurt. FjR68 I went to a junkyard and got plates from a pickup that matched the tube diameter and flipped my rear u-bolts. Fabbed up a plate on the bottom with little ramps to protect the bottom of the u-bolts ...

Re: hanging with the greatest wheeling dog ever
Doing well in Sacramento! Planning to get out on the trail some more, I miss hitting trails with BSJ. Did some snow wheeling a couple of weeks ago. Jeep finally passed smog (long story) and registered in Cali. Leroy is doing awesome and says 'woof' to everyone. I got a job in October working for a s...

Re: short center caps
I modified a pair for my CJ which uses a larger diameter center cap. I imagine you could do the same thing for the XJ. I cut down the centercap with a metal saw then used a pair of lineman's pliers to bend a lip at the bottom of the centercap.

Re: more loose nuts
I tend to use the torque wrench to go to 100, then use a breaker bar and approximate the desired torque. For a baseline guage how much force it needs to start the nut turning from 100.

Have you ever changed the filter in the charcoal canister? If it clogs, the engine vacuum may pull from the tank. I had a former Mopar mechanic check for codes using a DRB II code reader and found no codes. We talked about the fuel from the emissions canister and he thinks the filter is plugged too...

Re: On-Board air
I put a York on my CJ, best mod. I got a tank (~3 gal) in a trade but have never permanently mounted it. I sold my shop compressor before I moved and so I will hook up the tank when working on the jeep with air tools. As JW mentioned if you rev the engine you can run most air tools even without a ta...

I don't have an opinion on the KM2's. Throw another tire out there, Mickey Thompson MTZ. Similar to Toyo M/T. They were in a tire compro in some off road magazine recently and did well.

I completely agree with you, still not sure how it is happening. First step check connections and hoses.johnsxj wrote:You shouldn't be having ANY fuel coming out of the charcoal canister!!!!!!!

Wheeling in Nevada
Pics from a trip I did this weekend near Fallon, NV. Primitive camping awesome. Didn't see anybody even though we were on a high point with no trees. Did some easy trails through canyons, running desert roads, and another canyon that had some fun obstacles. It was cool, there was the occasional old ...

Re: '94 4.0 computer issues
Went on a run to Nevada this past weekend, about 200 miles east. After doing some quasi pre running (moderate speeds down bumpy dirt roads) I came to a stop shut off the engine and observed fuel dripping on the ground, it was coming from the charcoal canister (gas tank 2/3 full). It happened another...

Re: '94 4.0 computer issues
When I was building my 2.5/SM420, I ran an XJ 4.0L/AW4. I had the same issue and couldn't figure it out. For poops and giggles, I ran a second ground wire from the ECU case to the body and she ran like a top for two years. Hopefully, it's something as simple. The case is plastic I opened the cover ...
