Hello BSJ

Hello BSJ,
I'm new to the forums and Jeeps in general. I just bought my first jeep a week ago. It's a stock 95 YJ, and needs some work but I'm hoping she's ready to roll by spring. I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys and gals as my project rolls along. I'll post pics and parts as I go, and I'm open to advice and constructive criticism. I would like to give a special thanks to Frank for all his advice and for helping me get started off in the right direction. :)

Ok, so far i ordered the Banks monster exhaust, k&n filter, Rubicon Express 4.5 extreme duty suspension, Skyjacker 7000 hydro shocks, slip yoke eliminator kit, tom woods Drive shaft, and Smitty Built SRC front bumper. My next order will be OX lockers front and rear, 1" body lift, and Bushwacker Flat Style Flares For 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited ( If it will fit ). Im currently looking for a ford 8.8, and i will be using 4.10's up front also. I plan on making my own skids. Im going with the Goodyear MT/s in 33x12,5 to start but will consider 35's if possible.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

You'll want more than 4.10's if you go to 35's.

I would go with 4.88's (lowest you can go on your Dana 30).

Kevin : Your Jeep is a 95 YJ if I remember, Yes ? Some one in the club will know if 35s will fit with a4.5 in lift. Even if there is some trimming to be done. Then you wont have to do things twice. Decide how hard you want to run it first. Being new and alot to learn is overwhelming ! Everyone starts somewhere so dont worry about asking questions. I started on 32s and went with 35s a 4x1 gear set in the T-case, and 4.56s but it was 4 or 5 yrs. in the making . I wish I had gone with the 88s. What I have is good enough most of the time , but there are those times when you just wish . Let things fall into place while you learn and develop a driving habit . Build as you go, eliminate the wishes . Good luck FjR68

I run 4.56 gears with 33/12.50s and I'm happy with the gearing. I also have the 4 to 1 Terra low conversion and its almost too slow on the trail. I had my Ford 8.8 built by a local transmission shop guy i know in hingham. Was very reasonable. Pauls transmission. Welcome to the club.
