Ok, update time. Beat the snot out of it at F&F. Nice. Lots of things worked well, some not so much. I have a few parts coming on the brown truck. New motor mounts, new tranny mount, 1" body lift. My body bushings are absolutely trashed so I figured I'd bump it up an inch and give the 33's a bit more clearance.

I decided to take the easy way out with my 4.2. I figured even if I figure out all the extra vacuum stuff to remove I'm still a bit clueless adjusting the carb solo. Larry from CCJC has it and is almost finished outside of a part for the carb he needed to order.

I have a bit of a to do list:

Install above parts
Do the SYE and order driveshafts
Longer shocks
Setup bump stops

Anyone have some time to help wrench next Saturday and or Sunday? Food is on me, beer too.

Actually considering going ahead and pulling the 4.2 and putting this 4.0 in while we're at it. It's a complete motor and harness soooo..... I'll see if Dennis tries to talk me out of it.

I would expect fuel pump/tank sorting out to complete the engine swap.

Check for fuel tank capacity. 20 gallon tanks vary from assembly plant locations on SOME YJs. This leads to different fuel pumps (and more) on about 5% of them in the US. Having assembled mix n match brand new fuel systems as we've encountered the need for it this year, the right thing to complete it might be to get a donor fuel tank from a 4.0 yj.

Picking up clutch kit with new pilot and throw out bearings, new fly wheel and a few other assorted parts in the morning. I aim to have it back to life pretty quickly. Dennis is going to give me a few more days which will be a big help. It's an OBD-I 4.0 so getting it to life shouldn't be too hard. Getting my factory gauges to work may get trickier, but that's not a pressing issue.

Dennis is a rock star, he's been great help on this project. We're going to put in a work day on Friday, should have the new drive train set by then. I was able to find myself a 241, even after paying shipping from Texas it was still cheaper (not by much!) than the price of a TeraLow and a an SYE. Won't be making the Rausch trip, even if everything goes in smooth I'll have some comparability issues with driveshafts. Since I'll be changing transfer cases the stock ones won't bolt up. I'll be getting some shafts from Woods but I can't order (measure) them until the drivetrain is in place. I'll update with some pics end of the day Friday.

Nah, just on hold for a bit Chris. The YJ is almost "done" for any more upgrades. It'll stay on 33's and now that it has a dependable drive train will be good to roll for quite some time. It will likely need a tub transplant in a couple of years but that's another story.

Got a jeep I can be happy with and have fun wheeling, allows me to do a few extras to the JK I had previously nixed because of time constraints. I honestly lost interest in the project for a while because it had been so long since I'd been wheeling. I also blame seasonal affective disorder.
