weird startup issue
so when i first start my jeep more than half the time it records zero oil pressure, and doesn't go up at all. eventually the check gauges flashes and beeps at me. instead, if i start the jeep, turn it off immediately, then start it right back up it works normally. today i got a "low oil pressure" code (P0522). oil pressure looked fine while i was driving, in the normal range. any thoughts on why this is happening?

Re: weird startup issue
I would say you have a loose wire to the oil pressure sending unit, or a bad sending unit.
You can't bolt on experience!!!!!!

Re: weird startup issue
gotcha. i don't think i'd trust an autozone unit, but maybe napa carries it. though advanced isn't bad.

Re: weird startup issue
Thats so weird , My Sportrac does it only in the winter or when its like 40 or colder. The first time I freaked. No engine noises and I put a mechanical gauge to make sure. Still does it now even with a new sensor. ? Whats next? FjR68
Re: weird startup issue
When I replaced mine I got one from Crown Automotive (via Lou)... Wasn't too expensive. Doesn't read quite the same as the stock one, but it works...

"T" in a mechanical gauge. I never trust the factory sending units. Just make sure you get a good one that uses copper line.

Re: weird startup issue
$15 at the dealer and 10 minutes of wrenching later the issue is gone. FYI, for some reason they needed the VIN # so it may be very specific. not that the guys at most dealerships are all that good, but i'm glad i went there versus autozone. i never would have gotten the right part.
