Yj Vrs. Xj

Unread post by Frank »

Can any of you guys tell me the frame width at the front of a Yj. Center of the leaves is what Im looking for. You know Im looking for an Xj high pinion 4.10 front end for my kids ranger. Yjs seem to be around and I wasnt going to go with leaves but if the width at the spring centers is good or close, I just might do it that way. No Im not going to try and weld all the brackets onto a Yj axle. Thanks FjR68

Looks to be about 31". I can measure mine when I get home, but it might be slightly off as it's not a dana 30.

Thanks Joe : I just wondered if it was close to the frame width on his ranger. Hanging the springs wont be that bad if it fits. There is lots of info on the swap but it appears to be almost a bolt in with the XJ 30 and home made links. You da man. FjR68

Finding an XJ D30 with 4.10 will probably be pretty hard -- I've looked and never had much luck.

Have you looked for a TJ D30 w/ 4.10?

TJ D30s w/ 4.10 are a lot more common and, if you can bolt in an XJ D30, you can use a TJ too... Brackets & geometry are the same, but it will be LP instead of HP.

Just get a XJ HP 30 with 3.55's and swap gears. The HP's use bearing shims, not crush sleeves, so installation isn't bad.
