Re: Winch
I have the epi9 and really like it, this is a discontinued model so not sure how easy it would be to get..... I think the LP8500 has a slower line speed but its decent quality.

Re: Winch
Ask Dave what he thinks about Superwinch after his brand new one failed on the first pull last Saturday.

Re: Winch
Never had a Superwinch, but I beat the piss out of my Smittybilt XRC8 and it never, EVER blinked. I'd probably still be running it but I couldn't pass up one helluva deal on a 10,500 Recon with a wireless remote and synthetic line

Re: Winch
I like my Ramsey. It has probably pulled the entire club up something at some point.
Actually, I do remember pulling the entire club up a hill at The Beacon years ago. It was slow, but we all made it.

If I was going to get a china build inexpensive winch I think I would have to get one of these:

A lot of people are very happy with their smittybilt winch.

Re: Winch
The biggest thing is the amp draw and line speed of the Q-9000. 120 less amps is a lot. I would think that I took a chance 10 yrs. ago when I bought a rebuilt Ramsey for dirt money . Really Dirt money. Im probably gonna get the Q-9000 just because of the specs. and take my chances again. Thanks for the input. FjR68
Re: Winch
Torque from an electric motor is directly proportional to current (more current = stronger electromagnetic field = more torque)... So if your winch is drawing 120A less the motor is producing substantially less torque and will need to be geared lower to get the same line pull force.
