Steering Issue

A friend and also member has a 04 Rubi that wanders so bad. I traced it to the steering linkage. The problem is the draglink rolls the tierod when you input steering corrections. If you turn right it rolls the tierod down to the limit of the tierod ends.Left input rolls it up.Which delays the imput or correction. Like you hit a bump or dip in the road,it takes off in that direction. All the ends are in good shape. The linkage is Rugged Ridge. I have R.R. linkage and dont get that but mine has cross over to the knuckle. Anyone have the same issue or know of a fix. 5.5" of lift,Long arm. The drag link is at a pretty steep angle with a drop pitman so I was thinking that its pushing down instead of sideways ,rolling the tie rod. What about bending the drag link and run a gusset on the bend. Any Ideas ? Thanks FjR68

He needs to move the tie rods on top of the knuckle to restore proper steering geometry. Bending and welding a drag link would work, but IMO, that is not a safe option. Bending (and welding, depending on the material of the drag link) will weaken the metal. Turning with a bent drag link will also induce a lot of stress on to those two points. That's why it's a bad idea all around.
