Will a front DS from a '96 XJ with a HP Dana 30 and an NP231J fit my '05 LJ with a regular Dana 30 and NP231? Trying to pick up a cheap spare... Thanks guys!

B : I would think if the T-case is in the same spot (inches)from the yoke to yoke it would work. FjR68

IIRC, some XJs came with a CV joint at the xfer case (front output). This could be a bonus if you grab the xfer case yoke too.

I think all the XJs for the model years since they got rid of the vacuum disconnect/CAD D30 axle have a CV front DS ('92? '93? -- I'm sure John C knows)...
I know my '98 (w/ AW-4) had a factory CV and I have a spare factory DS (w/ a CV, from an automatic) I got from a scrap yard.
I think Ryan's front DS is already a CV -- I thought all the TJs have them from the factory -- so the TC yoke should "just work".
When I swapped a TJ "Rubicon D44" into my XJ I found the pinion was longer relative to the pinion from the HP D30. I needed to get a shorter DS to make it work...
