Paint shop recommendation

Unread post by Derek »

I just picked up some mopar half doors from the dealer Friday, but I’ve yet to find a paint shop that says that they can match the paint. I had a shop in Wakefield (bova’s auto body) color match my tube door skins for my JK, but he has gone out of business since.

1st shop, $6-8k to repaint the entire sides and repaint the full doors.

2nd shop, the secretary said that they don’t usually work outside of insurance claims and the manager never called me back.

3rd shop said that he would try and would do some spray outs, but said that he doesn’t expect it to match and if he doesn’t think it’s a good match then he’s painting them black. I guess I can appreciate that, but he doesn’t sound confident.

I have a guy here in Clinton (Mike Z Customs/Clinton Tire) and he does some great work. Not sure what he'd charge, but if you tell him that Bob Hood recommended him to you, I'm sure he'd try to get you the best price he could...

Vinyl wrap is cheaper.
3m has color matching to factor paint. Not sure if your’s is available but can look into that.

I got excited for a wrap but they recommend to have it fully painted before applying the wrap. Maybe I’ll still look into it after it’s painted, I kinda like the new guys wrap, Hobbes, and my wife likes the wood grain I found.

Got the doors back from the body shop and assembled.

Ranelli Auto Body inc. in Wakefield did the paint, the owner even came to my house while the whole family was sick to check his spray outs.
