Ft Axle breakage

A few weeks ago I broke a Nitro axle shaft I got from Lou I had to send it back to get a replacement under warranty
So I put astock shaft in and my 35s on went out with Chris on the 1st of Aug. No problems Igot 1dent from sliding into a tree Chris didnt try that ledge LOL everyrthing was good
I went out yesterday on priviate land in Buckland the 1st hill only had 3 wheel drive the front passenger side was not spinning I put in in 4x4 30 feet before the hill
Thats the side that has the alloy shaft in it There was no way Icould do that place in 3 wheel drive I turned around and came home I did watch buggies do awesome stuff
Pulled it a part when i got home The alloy was snapped inside the diff must of happened when I was with Chris
That alloy look perfect when i pulled it out to get the stub shaft out of the 1st broken 1

My question is why would alloy axle shaft break in the diff when there is a stock shaft on the other side with the U joint caps tack weld in LOL

Two possibilities I can think of...
1) The alloy was weakened when \you broke the other side and it now decided to pop.
2) Since you are locked up front you may have had great traction just on the alloy side and all the front axle torque went to the alloy shaft side and snapped it.

It looked like it did when it was new I know if it gets weakened it wont showonthe outside
I thought of those but I never heard it + running 35s should be bullet proof with alloys
You do hear a ft alloy pop even a stock shaft i hear break No Noise ?????
I have to go to my trusty steel shop to get a piece of steel 3 feet long a 1/2 in wide 1/8 in thick to get the broken part out today A d30 with lock rite is not much room aD 35 apiece of re bar works LOL

The splined area of an axleshaft will almost always be the weak point. The shaft snaps right after the splines leaving them in the locker and the axleshaft rolling around.

As to why the alloy snapped before the stock - well it has to do with what that sticker says on the side of your Jeep. Even so, alloy or stock, it's still only a 27 spline axle.
1.16" diameter shaft vs a 35" or 36" tire and it makes you wonder how they live at all.

It had to happen on that hill, was the hardest part of that whole ride. After all that "dead" tree, no matter how hard you went at it, is was not going to move. :)

I take it the after market shafts will be replaced at no cost?

I had 4x4 on the other side of power lines both ft wheels were spinning remember that rock i drove up + over you went around with out both ft wheels turning it would not of done that

It last 1 year before the other side broke with 36s Like Kurt said it must of been weakened then just let go
My 35s + 36s are 20lbs a piece differance
