There is some legit class action lawsuit action here, this amount of corrosion is inexcusable for a 7-year-old jeep. It should be sealed better and probably have a grease zerk on it so you can keep it filled with grease.

As an engineer, I am pretty impressed with the design and concept. For those that are unfamiliar, the motor pushes a plunger that moves a shift fork that unlocks the two sides. The reason the light flashes is that thinner metal shaft is a switch to measure the position of the shift fork. My motor and position switch are operating just fine, I hooked them up to the jeep and watched it cycle a few times.

I cleaned the mechanism, wire wheeled and sanded the parts and it seems to go back together now. As you know, when something rusts it expands, so the lock collar is a little tighter on the splines then I would like. I am going to try to grease it up and reassemble tomorrow.

If this doesn't work, I guess I reprogram my ECU and buy a Currie Antirock?

Fascinating I was able to fix the swaybar, I sanded and painted it while I had it off the jeep. It is amazing how much flatter the jeep stays when the swaybar is disconnected.

Now I know that if the swaybar light is flashing, it is not working! The light glows when it is disconnected.

Pretty easy service all in all but you certainly need to remove it from the jeep to crack the case.

I have a very convenient articulation rock in my yard.

Only one side disconnects .
It cant possibly stay flatter with the sway bar disconnected .
You can get a triangle file of the right size to clean the spline up. Try a mixture of light grease and Lubrafilm spray.
I assume you RTVd the covers now . FjR68

I'm guessing he meant it the body stays flatter when articulating then when the sway is connected due to the fact that the front sway bar basically controls the relationship of the axle to body.

Spot on, that is what I meant.

I just repacked with grease, I don't drive the jeep in the winter and try to avoid the rain so I think it will be fine for a while.

I purdy sure I know how a sway bar works . Im helping a new person understand it also. In a language that all automotive people would understand . As in my left front wheel , Everyone knows its the driver side front wheel . Or my right tail light isnt working . Again everyone know which one it is. Because there is a standard . Every one knows its described from the drivers seat . Assume is not what I do . Just helping a new guy and not putting werds in their mouth ! FjR68
