so after winching in the snow up in ME I finally snapped my 6-8 yr old synthetic winch line. I simply put a knot around a D ring and carried on for the moment.
I've decided to finally rebuild the Superwinch that detonated on me about 5 years ago at Brookridge. I do have a steel cable but really enjoy most things about the synthetic winch line.
So my question is; where are folks buying synthetic line these days and how many strands and what breaking point are people going for? I'm leaning toward a 100' length 14 strand with a 20K breaking point is that strong enough for a 2 door JK?

I bought mine from Amazon - 85', 12 strand, 25k break point. $100.

Re: synthetic winch line question?
I had been looking at similar listings on Amazon, but was a little nervous about the super low price... how has this held up?

You might take a look at Quadratec's Q-series Dyneema synthetic line, 90' rated at 18,000lbs. $199.99 but ask for a discount, sometimes they will mark it down some. If you are a member of Wrangler Forum there is a code for discount to members.

Re: synthetic winch line question?
The ratings for this one are pretty good. I've used it a few times and it seems to hold up just fine. I had similar concerns about the quality and figured I'd give it a shot and just keep a close eye on it. So far so good.
