So now there can be no complaints about tire tread outside the wheel wells...

If they give you any guff, I've got some smaller tires you can borrow.

Wow, they really didn't pass that? I feel like half the wranglers on the road in MA stick out an inch or two.

Still have my 33"s, so all good on that front.

Thanks for the offer though...

And don't forget all the "Bro Trucks" with their tires COMPLETELY outside their fenders...

According to the previous inspector, the 33"s I had which the tread was under the fender flair, he almost failed me because the tire sidewall lugs were outside. I mentioned the "equipped for offload use" laws on the book of Massachusetts that pertain to lift, tires, fender exposure, and his reply was that they don't apply to a Jeep.

Well this time I'll be going to a different inspector, but wanted to be prepared if they give me any grief about the "tires outside the fender flair", when in actuality I can remove the flairs all together with the mudflats in place.

Where do you go? You need to find a new place.

That's crazy! I had a place try to fail me a couple of years ago because I had a frame around my front license plate. I pulled out my leatherman and took the frame off on the spot. Based on pictures, I don't think your 35s are sticking out any more than my 33s do and that's never been an issue for me, but this is MA so who knows what they'll change.

Just got mine inspected yesterday. No problems, done quickly. I do pull the Aruba plate off to avoid issues. Put the stock wheels/tires on too. I know there are cameras in the inspection bays now that the RMV can monitor so I don't want to give the inspector any heartburn.

I just got some 33's put on and I'm worried it wont pass now haha. I should get it inspected before I sell my stock wheels off.

Just so everyone knows this is a public section meaning anyone can see it including state and inspection stations. Instead of playing games and bitching just do what is right. Inspectors are just doing there job plan and simple.

What exactly is your setup? I haven't had any issue with my 33s. If memory serves, and it rarely does, the tires are 11.5" wide on a 9" wide wheel with a -12mm offset (~4.5" backspacing) and stock fender flares. Based on past interactions, I think my inspectors are thorough and stick to the rules so if you're around that same sort of setup I can't imagine you'll have a problem.

Funny enough, I have the exact same setup. That is good to hear I should be in the clear. There is a local place that builds up jeeps that I can get an inspection at. I somehow doubt they are going to reject a jeep as un-built as mine haha.
