Cj5 trans mount
New member with a quick question. The nuts in the frame for the transmission cross brace are stripped. Any thoughts on how to repair. Helicoil or nutsert? I’m missing all these great runs and not sure how to proceed. 1980 ci5

For the skid plate? Re tap them. Go slow or you will snap them of.
Do it right the first time!

Re: Cj5 trans mount
Helicoil or tap won't work if the factory captured nut has spun. I've cut a square on the inside of the frame to weld in a new captured nut, then patched the square, flapper wheel, and its like I've never been there. In the rare case of a stripped or cross threaded nut that is still captured the next step up tap size may work.
