Should I have a some protective armor welded around it? Or should I cut a hole in my bumper and move it up inside? Any advice would be appreciated!

Make it a pigtail that you can disconnect when not in use. If you are towing while wheeling, route it above the bumper.

I figured it out. The bracket is installed per Mopar instructions, with just two hex screws. And the connector itself has a 7-pin pigtail that is easy to disconnect.
(the other valve is my bumper water tank spigot)

I hope you have a weather cover for the pig tail. Also get a small tube of dielectric grease to push into every connection FjR68
