Where do you get your steel?

Hi,

I am looking for some place that will sell regular steel tubing to the average Joe off the street. I found some places online, but the shipping is more than the steel :? I am in Hopkinton, so somewhere around Mass pike 495 intersection would be great.

Thanks,

Jonas

What are you looking for Jonas? Steel pipe or DOM tubing?
And what lengths? I have some odd pieces of 1.75 dom and 2 in dom.
Peterson's steel in Worcester can get you what you want. They have other stores around too.

I steel it. ;)

Not super close to you, but if it's not a frequent need Metal Supermarket up in Woburn isn't a terrible drive.

I was looking for about 40 feet of 0.75" ERW 14 gauge for a halloween project 8-) , and eventually some 1.75" .120 DOM for some new rock sliders (once I remember how to weld).

Peterson's and Metal Supermarkets both seem like great choices. I'll check them out.

Thanks for the replies,

Jonas

There's a place on South St. I forget the name, but I had contacted them when I was going to make a decorative stainless roll bar for a Cobra replica. They were knowledgeable enough to tell me not to use stainless for a functional roll bar. Look up steel suppliers for Hopkinton.
