MA Inspection question

Mine is due in now and I'm wondering a couple of things:

1. there is no door law in MA, do I have to put my doors back on?

2. Softtop - can I just have the windows in the jeep or do they have to be on?

Thanks

I've brought Jason's to get inspected with no doors or top and have not had a problem. If you do not have doors, you DO need mirrors on both sides, though. I had a conversation with a tech once and he said some people make that mistake. Jeeps don't need doors, but they do need mirrors.

Great, thanks Mark. That saves me a lot of aggravation. Hoping she will pass without swapping tires..

I would eliminate any easy potential issues prior to going. If you give them only 1 or two things to overlook versus 6-7 things.

As long as they don't stick out beyond the flares...

First shop that I always went to said no on tires sticking out to much. Try another shop. Went to another garage, talked to the guys he said they don't look so hard at that, they question the 6" lifts etc. Passed without issue.

Great day! I went for my MA inspection today since putting on the lift and tires. Lift height was no problems but I got some flak about my 35's being slightly outside the stock fenders. Bottom line I got the sticker, but it was dicey whether he was going to pass me.

Sorry , But this topic just kills me when it comes up :) Here in the good-ole state of Dr. Ben Dover , They stick a wand up your pipe , it sucks exhaust and you go home. They are too cheap to give you a sticker at all . Its just in the computer. There is a hologram in your plate they shoot if you get stopped , it tells him/her everything. Mona has had a plate for 17 yrs and never has she been subjected to an inspection of any kind. Course , back in her day there were no safety issues ! FjR68

Geez.....when I put my stock tires back on, the height is well within the 2" allowed by MA and I pass with flying colors.

I don't know if all the towns do this, but I know for sure Hopkinton has plate scanners in police cars and they're always on. It'll tell them if the car is late for inspection. The wife was pulled over at night, in the rain for it in a Subaru we bought from her father. If they write a ticket, it's considered a moving violation, so while the ticket is cheap, the surcharges on insurance won't be.

The State cracks down because MA likes to micromanage every aspect of life and take all the fun out of everything. Have a great day.
