Just joined today after emailing back and forth yesterday. I've re-acquired my old '99 WJ after the frame of my old, big '93 big Blazer finally cracked.

Got this stock WJ that could use suspension work anyway, so I thought I'd lift it a couple inches aND get sone 31 inch tores on it. Nothing drastic as it still needs to be driven daily.

I've really only driven mild trails, to and from hiking locations and camping.

This is both my first, and second Jeep, since I let it go and it came back.

Well you know what they say. If you love something set it free and if it comes back to you it's yours... or something like that.. haha

Love? I don't know. I always loved those old big Blazers and old CJ7's. Had two of those Blazers and never had a CJ. They just seems too small for me before they came out with the 4 doors, and I needed something I could fit kayaks on top, bikes on back, camp and hiking gear in the back, and dog in the back seat (front when my girlfriend isn't around).

Picked this up about 4 years ago and it seemed to fit the bill OK.

what type of lift are you looking at?

I thought about a Rough Country 2 inch lift and was advised that an Iron Rock Offroad would be better, either 2 or 3 inches.

Checking the IRO website, they advise that a 31 tire can be worn under the 2 inch, while 31.6 can be worn under the 3 inch. So I wonder if the 3 is worth the price difference and extra installed parts over the 2 inch?

Either way I plan on replacing the coil insulators either way, and the sway bar links. Probably check the Panhard at the same time.

Welcome to the club! I have a friend who put a rough country lift on his WJ and couldn’t have been happier with the ride quality. But it is rough country and it’s at the low end of the cost spectrum so it’ll be hit or miss. My advise, get decent shocks, whichever lift you go with.

I had a '98 with a 3" ( skyjacker I think) back in 2000 we trimmed the fenders / wheel wells and stuffed 295's under it. I had to obviously upgrade the rims too. Did fairly well on the highway if I recall. Good luck and welcome..
