Ox front locker seized

I was driving my TJ on the way to get an inspection and I hit a bump in road construction on rt 85. Well.. That caused my whole front end to lock.
My switch wouldn't move from unlock to lock to even try to "reset" it. The cable was totally ruined. It was rubbing and crunching in my spring.
I couldn't drive faster then 10 mph and was right around the corner from my inspection place.
I couldn't remove the cable due to rust... So I cut it.
Yup. Snip snip.
If I get a new cable assembly- do I need to take apart the front pumpkin? Or can I just do the 17 turns into the pumpkin and call it a day? Anyone know?
