New sneakers on the LJ today. My initial choice of Toyo Open Country MTs are no longer available in 35x12.5x15, so after looking around a bunch, reading a lot of reviews and not being able to wait for the KM3s to show up next spring, I pulled the trigger this morning on a set of 5 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro in 35x12.5x15.
Initial impressions are that they are significantly quieter than the worn MT/R Kevlars that were on there, I can hear the radio without cranking it up to 11 on the highway at 65 now. I think they are quieter than the MT/Rs were when they were new.
The worst tire (spare) took 6oz to balance and the best 1.25oz. Average was around 3oz. First offroad outing for them will either be the Jeep Rally or the Jeep Jamboree in Bethel two weeks after that.
The thread blocks are siped so they should have better rain and snow traction than the MT/Rs. Pattern has large voids with stone ejectors and very nice side biters. Rim protection seems pretty good too with a nice lip there.
