Hey all,
I'm a newbie all the way around, just purchased my first Jeep last summer and I'm hooked. I joined Wrangler Forum and everyone suggests finding a local group to join which led me to find this group.
I picked up an old school Willy's with no electric windows or door locks and the mud tires and I couldn't be happier. I have both the hard and soft top, but have left my soft top on so far this winter.
What I've done with DaThug:
Hi lift jack mounted on hood
added front cowl armor in red
Complete set of new Alpine SPS-610Cs
Under seat Kicker subwoofer
Pioneer 4200NEX Head unit
Viper Alarm, proximity monitor and remote start
Things I want to do:
Front bumper with D-rings and Winch
Back bumper - Trailer hitch
Lift - Not sure of desired height, it is my daily commuter
bigger tires 35's / Mopar Performance rim with red trim
Offroading is a new activity in a vehicle, we do enjoy mountain biking (more accurately mountain falling). I use to own dirt bike decades ago and did a lot of off roading, but not in a 4 wheel vehicle. We have gone off road a lot, but nothing challenging, a lot of class 6 roads in MA and CT, etc. I have a go pro mounted on the outside of the Jeep and we love to run through the shallow mud, jeep mogels, and hills. I need to learn to do more challenging things before attempting them.
Looking forward to learning a great many things!

Welcome! Now is the best time to join up as the new year is just beginning! We have a jeep 101 early in the year to introduce you to the jeep thing, and we have runs throughout the year. I'd recommend getting out and wheeling it before deciding on lift/tires/etc as everyone's tastes are different and you won't know yours until you get out there.
Mountain biking is my sport of choice, mostly the single track cross country type stuff. Current starting the rebuild process on my 26" hardtail.

Thanks, I was just looking at the requirements to join the club. Looks like I need the fire extinguisher and then a CB and get that installed. The lift will be a future endeavor, I want a new front bumper first.
I also have a hardtail (Cannondale Beast of the East) and am a beginner, not hardcore ;o)

For the CB, you can find a decent handheld to get yourself going.
I've been running a 2003 Trek 4900 since new, but I'm recently really getting into it. The new parts I'm throwing at this bike will allow me to build up key skills to get better.

I like the use of red accents on the Jeep! Welcome to the forum!!
Do you ever get a poor reaction to the open carry of an assault riffle on the hood?

@Hoodoo Man Thanks, I"m looking forward to getting to know fellow Jeep owners and learn from people.
LOL!! I keep looking for a hood mount for a cannon, it's my Detroit days coming back to me. I actually have everyone at work jealous and have complete strangers come up to me telling me they would love to own my Jeep. Apparently Da Thug is the topic of conversation at the office.

Well, looks like I waited a day to late and no openings to join the club. Any other recommended clubs that are family oriented either in MA or CT?

To clarify we are holding off throwing the doors open to new members until our Spring Meeting.
I can say with 99.9999% confidence that you'll be able to join us then.
Please attend our Spring Meeting on March 18th, check us out and you ought to be able to join on the spot.

Agreed... I see that you've already filled out the wait list application - that's good because wait list people get first dibs after the spring meeting. It shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Marcy, Welcome to the forum, there are alot of great runs this year from mild to wild with a bit of everything in between. Also a great bunch of people here to help you challenge yourself at your own pace and sometimes encouragement to just be dumb!

You probably have seen us around in those areas. I use to work in Westboro and we are often out there heading to Wegmans.
