Tire coverage in NH

I know according to the word of the regs this will probably prevent me from getting a sticker, but are you guys finding they are getting through inspection like this? I know I can put on narrower tires for inspection but was wondering if they would "let it slide"? Also, how likely am I to get stopped for this? In the planning stages on where I want to go with this jeep and if this is going to be an issue I'll have to go a different direction.

I got the "skinny" tires on purpose so I don't have to deal with the fender coverage issue. It depends on where you take it generally, the mom+pop shops may let more slide then a jiffy-lube/valvoline. I haven't heard of anyone getting pulled over for tire coverage issues.

I'm considering 1 tons and that pic has the narrowest wheel/tire combo that I can run without the hubs extending outside the rim, otherwise I'd keep it closer under the fenders. Just gathering info before I decide what I'm going to do.

Not sure if it exists, but extended fenders for JK's?

TJ's have all sorts of options for fenders.

I say do it until they tell you not too. Almost every jeep out there, whether on the trail or at the mall, has tires that extend past fenders.
I happen to be registered as an OHV so I fall under the Mass Law that says Tires can't extend past fenders unless the vehicle equipped for off-roading bla bla bla.

I didn't even think of flares for some reason, that's an obvious solution. I should register it OHV too. I see tires sticking out all the time too. I have a cop friend in Lowell that he wouldn't bother anyone unless they were driving like a moron or had other "issues" that brought them to his attention. He's a city cop though, he has different things to be concerned with.

Why would you even consider WonTons if you arent runnin 40s or better ? 44s work and seam to hold up with 35s/38s. It really depends on how you drive it. I just hate to see someone wasting money they could use elsewhere . Just my opinion . FjR68

I hear you Frank, just weighing all my options. In the 19 years I had my Samurai I upgraded my axles 3 times, I'm older and wiser now and only want to do it once. I've pretty much convinced myself the 1 tons are a little too much for my needs, I don't think I'll want bigger then 37's for a daily driver and I don't want to sink that kind of money into something not street friendly.

What about sleeve/gusseting the front 44, upgraded shafts front/rear? I know nothing of your Samuri, but I can only imagine your rubicon tackles the same trails with much greater ease. Don't drive it like you stole it and things will last.

If you starting off with 44s , do what Dan suggested , sleeve/gusset , two options to help you spend your money, RCV axles or alloys. Rear calls for a full length truss and go from there. Long arms or triangulated . Dude , gimme yer check book , I want to help ! FjR68

I'll have to look into that more, it's the least expensive way to go. I got mixed reviews in some of the forums that's why I was a little hesitant.
Buy once, cry once. Thanks for the advice guys, keeps things in perspective.

Yup dont bother with "redundancy mechanicals, where they do it nice cause they do it twice" not worth it in the long run, thou while it may hurt more up front it will outlast and save you money in the long run.
