Looking for your thoughts.
I think I chose the poison spider. The first link is a bit more than I wanted to spend but they offer every thing I need and are rugged enough to take the beating we all know I'll give them.
The second link is more in my budget but I would rather spend a little more (in this case, a lot more) so I don't have to spend more later. What do you think?
Will they install over the current damage or do I need to address that first. You guys at the fall crawl know what damage there is.

Either should cover your new body mods as is or with a little hammering back. Once lifted you shouldn't hit so much anymore. The first one may make it more difficult for a vertically challenged person to get in! But better protection for sure.
I'ld get them uncoated and either paint them yourself or have powder coated local unless there factory process is better than it use to be you can get a better job and cheaper local.

I think you really want to lean towards the first. The body armor covers the side of the tub, I'm not convinced how much protection from underneath it gets you. Here's a picture of it installed on a 4 door. Look where you still see the body-colored paint -

X2 for the first set. It's going to give you the protection you want - and need!

X3 on the first set. As a fellow vertically challenged individual, I find that the step helps when working the soft top, working in the engine, cleaning and yes, ngetting in and out.

The added benefit is that the step could also be used as a jack point for a hi-lift.

Ive been looking at Poison Spyder too, this one has a step but it is expensive. Either way, power coating is better up here in the northeast

my TJ was covered in Poision Spyder sliders, corners and the front bumper. I have their diff cover on my JK. the stuff is bullet proof... A lot of thier stuff can be found with free shipping at Amazon too.

I also like the first set too. They are offering powder coating for some things now too...

I looked at those, great reviews, then again, I haven't been able to find bad reviews for any poison spider stuff. Too rich for my wallet tho.

Thanks for that picture, that helps. I'll be ordering the first ones in a couple of weeks, I would like to try putting them on myself but installation is beyond my tool inventory so that adds to the cost.

Edit: re-read tools required ... I should be good.

One more option from Poison Spyder that has a step. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their stuff
