88 YJ w/ Hemi???

Hey guys,
I have been toying with the idea of getting something older than my 2001 to have some more fun with and I stumbled on an 88 YJ with a Hemi in it up in Lynnfield. The owner hasn't had it that long and actually said there was a BayState Sticker on it before he removed some of them. This is a black 88 with white flames up front, again with the Hemi in it and the 5 speed which I was surprised about. It looked like it needed some revitalization and would be a decent long project to work on but I may be biting off to much. Does anyone know who put this rig together and if things were done up to par and knowing the history would be good. It looked like it was more of a woods rig as it looked like it hasn't been registered in while. Actually does anyone know if the conversion from the 6 to the 8 would be an issue with the DMV or getting a sticker?

Thanks for the help!

Yes - I think I remember that Jeep from years ago. :)
His name was Tony M. I remember he owned a restaurant.

I don't have much info on it's build history. He was ASE certified, the YJ had a V8, a lift and 4.10 gears. The axles (I think) were stock D30 & D35.
The last time I recall seeing it was when we went to Rausch Creek in 2006
Here's a pic from the 2006 RC trip when that Jeep was there.

This the Jeep?

The V8 did this to the rear pinion :-o

First thought was Tony. I think he bought a truck and thats was the donor. Didnt realize it was a Hemi. Thought it was a 360. FjR68

Kurt,
Wow what a great memory and to have pics as well!!! Well done sir! That is it exactly! Thanks for the info guys, I am not sure I want to be the one to try and resurrect this back into the wild. Hopefully someone does that has a lot of time and deep pockets.

Thanks again!

Actually it ran pretty good . If the stock axles need to be replaced , there are so many to choose from at the bone yard on the cheep. I , at first thought you bought this Jeep. Where is it , and how much did he want for it. FjR68
