New to the Forum (maybe looking to join)?
Good afternoon!
New to the forum.
Over the years I have owned 4x4's and did a fair bit of beach running and fishing. I just recently, (last 5 days), purchased a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4 door.My understanding of the capabilities of this Jeep is based solely on some trail riding in Sedona with a rented Rubicon over xmas. Loved it, had a blast and managed to survive some impressive trails without any damage to that new rented Rubicon.
After looking at many photos and videos of this group on the trails I would like your feedback. Am I completely nuts to take a new jeep out on the trails the group rides? Dirt I do not mind, and again I suspect the jeep is far better equipped to handle the trails than I am. Dinging or breaking it before I have broken it in would be very sad.
I live in Holliston and was hoping to make the get together later this month.
Probably not as much fun, but are there modest trails to build my skills and confidence before pushing my limits and learning the jeeps capabilities? I suspect I am just as likely to get dinged by parking next to someone at Market Basket but I just want to exercise a reasonable amount of good judgement. I do like to have fun and dirt I can deal with.
I can stick with the sand, but man, it looks like you are having too much fun!
Thanks in advance for your help,
Gary

You are NOT nuts! We have a few new jks and jkus that are fresh off the dealer lot. By fresh meaning less than a year.

Holliston! I have a dear old friend on the policeforce there. Welcome to the club. I say wheel what your comfortable with and when something breaks, fix it. It's like that first scratch in the supermarket parking lot. Tough to take, easy to get over, not such a big deal when it happens again.

Welcome! Holliston, huh? I lived in Ashland for awhile and had a photography studio in Framingham for many years. I know the area well.
I think the best thing for you would be to come to the meeting on the 19th, meet the gang, then come to our Jeep 101. You may learn a few things, we'll do a stock Jeep run afterwards and you'll get a good idea of what it's all about. Then, you'll be hooked and want spend all your money on your Jeep, like the rest of us. But, before you do that, join the club and begin your new life as a Jeep junkie!

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement! Ralph, your profile picture was one of the pictures that caught my attention! I'm still pretty green and just getting the Jeep wave down! Hope to see you at the meeting on the 19'th.

Some people around here might say that you are nuts to buy such a capable Jeep and not use it. I bought my 2009 new off the lot and within 6 months had it lifted and on 32s, added skid plates and rocker protection specifically for trip to Moab in October of that year. Nope, not nuts at all for using your toy as it's meant to be used. Welcome.

All this talk about new Jeeps is makin me jealous ! I run an old ratty 74 Cj-5 . Her name is Mona. I hope to meet you at the meeting and see you on a trail. The rubi is the best optioned Jeep to come out of the factory. Dont be afraid to see what she can do. Both of you will learn at the same time and youll never be pushed into something you dont want to try. Just ask Ralph. FjR68

Sure glad I got out of his Jeep just before he took his famous backwards slide down the trail and then the rock face.

Hi Everyone,
I am also new to the forum and thinking of joining the club. I'm from Lowell, lived there most of my life. I know my jeep is capable but not sure I am up to speed. I'd like to go to this 101 class. Do I need to be a member or can I check it out?

No, you do not need to be a member to attend the Jeep 101. We look forward to meeting you there. Prepare to have fun.
