What kind of feature and functions are you looking for?

I really would suggest buying the best one you can afford . It will be more accurate and have more functions. I used Fluger Digitals in the HVAC industry and they never let me down. Sears, Has good units also. Home Cheapo units look pretty good for the price , HF ones are to be left bouncin around in the Jeep cause you can buy another one and not have to skip supper. FjR68

The clamp style can be handy to have if you want to read current... I have a clamp that has regular leads for voltage / resistance... no special brand... works ok.

Yup! I have a spare one, yours if you want it. It's a 'benefit' of a HF in your town..... going in for no particular reason, and walking out with 'things you can't live without'

That's the money question. If you just need to borrow one, I have a good Fluke 87
(if I remember, I'll bring one or both tomorrow to GTD)

I'm looking for one to keep a read on the battery system Kurt is helping me build. Deep cycle battery with 12 V out put and solar recharge. Also want to have it for whatever jeep needs may come up.

If you are buildING something check ebay... you can buy small LCD voltage / current panel mount displays for cheap. Go with induction current meters, not the shunt type.
