Homemade Budget Mirror Mounts

Unread post by Carl McFly »

Check this out - the cleanest, low-buck mirror mounting solution I've seen

Image

It's a bent, threaded rod, capped with an acorn nut on one end and a couple hex nuts on the other end. Covered in a plastic sleeve and a clamp to mount a mirror, this also sports the optional paint accents to really give it that "yeah, I spent a lot on this" look

Check out the June issue of Tracks for a "Can I do that in my driveway??" tutorial 8-)

The short answer? I don't know. I haven't made them yet. But I was told they're stable, this came from the guy who owned the JKU. And I'm guessing the stability has something to do with this.......

looks to me like you can really torque it down. I mean, it's a threaded rod. Unless the nuts were aluminum, you could probably torque them as tight as you want/ need

I think hes talking about vibration. I would look into solid rod , bent and threaded . Couldnt you use a pair of mounts from a CJ ? Those gotta be a dime a dozen. Just sayin :) FjR68

yup, that's the plan :handgestures-thumbupright: Got sidetracked on some other things (loose track bar, something whistling Dixie, you know, the usual) but hope to get a set of these built
