As a lot of you know I am in love with my Jeepster. Got me thinking bout ditching my JKU....
I am considering getting a late 80's grand wagoneer: four doors, PS, PW AC and big and heavy and unique... Potentially swap out the motor for a more modern drive-train. I can use the 5.9 360 V8 as a tow rig and will get about 14 mpg compared to the monthly payment on my JKU I can take the hit on the 1-2 mpg difference.
A common swap for the engine is 5.3/4l60e/np241c and that can net up to 20 mpg with a modern Fuel injected drive-train...
Anyone on here have experience with these FSJ It would be a resto-mod Jeep unlike my Jeepster which I want to keep stock. I would add a modern stereo, possible drive train upgrade as just mentioned and a mild lift to clear my 33" duratracs from my JKU.... Have I gone insane? 4 out of 5 voices want to know...
