My bride's Hynudai is throwing ABS / TCS lights. They come on pretty quick but I found I can drive it just under 1/2 mile before they light up the night (guess who just got a sticker with no idiot lights to ruin their day?) From what I read it's possibly a cracked tone ring or wheel sensor. Or a litany of other things but those two are kind of common. I also read a Diagnostic Scan Tool can help narrow it down. I have no problem replacing a wheel sensor but playing eenie-meenie-miney-moe on what wheel sensor it might be isn't troubleshooting. It's guessing
So, anybody have one of these bad Larry Diagnostic Code Scanner Reader thingys that I could borrow? It's an '06 Santa Fe with OBDII

Re: ABS / TCS Scan Tool
You may want to try doing a continuity test with a DMM on each of the ABS wheel sensors to see if any of them went open circuit.

most auto parts places will let you scan a code for free, one of the very few good things about Autozone...

Re: ABS / TCS Scan Tool
I think Cark is looking for the special ABS scan tool and not a generic ODBII (engine) scanner.
To my knowledge the standard ODBII scanner only deals with engine & emission stuff and talks to the PCM.
The ABS scanner talks to the ABS control module.

Tx but I'm going to try the ghetto, DVM / impedance troubleshooting first. I'm on call this weekend and really can't do much but I can sit in my driveway, pull wheels and probe sensorsVoodoo Chile wrote:Want to talk to Ken? I can connect you to him. He has the full bevy of diagnostic chit...
