Sliders and/or rails?

Hey Gang,
After all the great feedback from my intro post, I decided protection would be step one - and I'm taking baby steps here. Picked up a set of Barricade Rock Sliders and I'm itchin' for them to come in so I can install them. My question is this: before I put the sliders on, is it worth it to add rails underneath? I really like the clean look of the rubi rails, and the sliders I got specifically say they'll work with rubi rails, but is the added protection (if any?) worth the cost to do both?
Thanks!
Dan

The only sliders I know of that work with Rubi rails are the Ace sliders. I agree though, Rubi rails really clean up the looks at that pinch seam. I bought take-offs from a guy and they have saved me countless times from getting body damage along the bottom. Check around to see if you can use Barricades with Rubi Rails.

Here is what I am planing on buying for rocker protection. I think it's both plus a step. https://www.nem-ind.com/products/jk-wra ... r-kit.html

While talking about rockers and such does anyone know if the stock sahara rube steps will do anything for protection or just snap off?

I've read on multiple JK forums that individuals have installed the Barricade Rock Sliders with the Rubi rails no problem. My personal opinion is that if you intend on playing on any moderate trails, you will want the additional protection from the Rubi rails because the Barricade Rock Sliders do not look like they provide protection for the pinch seam. As Ralph said, there are times when you may hit those sides on some rocks and the added protection would be appreciated.

The stock plastic steps are useful for several purposes: provide step for you and others to get in and out of jeep, buffer from car doors, washing top of Jeep and making the Jeep look not so stock. The manual use to state the steps should be removed prior to off-roading. They are not meant to act as a nerf bar or rock slider. With the build you listed out on another thread I wouldn't attempt to use the stock plastic steps as off-roading protection. The Nemesis protection is nice, I personally didn't go with it because I couldn't convince myself to drill into the body for the nutserts. However, after off-roading several times, I have so many scratches that a few holes in the body wouldn't matter now.

Even standard Rubicon rocker protection won't protect against a major hit on the trail. Body Armor makes a pretty decent product for the JK/JKU. I am more a fan of poison spyder but that is very expensive stuff.

the stock steps are not any kind of protection and will detonate under a light hit (sounds narly when it happens too  ), sell them while they are as "good as new" to someone with a stock jeep that didn't come with them to help fund your upgrades. :)

I guess they are coming off tomorrow. The nemesis ones seem pretty awesome the video shows them taking some serious abuse. The only thing is they say install will take you 7 hours.... seems real high but worth it.
