I have a TJ and my CB isn't mounted, per se. Its chilling in my center arm rest and to use it on the trail, I have to keep the arm rest open. Not the best solution, BUT when not wheeling, no one sees it.

I like the center console idea, I was thinking maybe glove box? or this mount, the second has a cover but I dont know if its worth having a steel box running across the bars with the top down

This is what i have in my Jeep and I like it. When you don't need it no one sees it.

In my JK, mine hangs from the trim strip above the rear view mirror. Wiring tucks up under the trim out of the way, the radio is out of the way but easy to reach, and doesn't take up any useable cabin cubage. Been there since 2009 without an issue.

I did the same as Don. Just use a couple of sheet metal screws through a small pilot hole in the plastic. It's held on for years like that without issue.

That's nice if you can spare the leg room.

 Maybe better on the passenger side so i don't lose legroom! I am having trouble Managing to mount my cobra 29 it seems I may have to use the Tuffy overhead storage console. I'm trying to avoid holes in my jeep unless absolutely necessary. Maybe under the seat? Over the mirror is not looking good with the dimming mirror with reading lights....

Be careful of mounting electronics low. Sometimes the puddles are deeper than they look. Most of us don't go that deep on purpose, but I've seen it happen on accident.

I'm 6', and don't have any legroom issues with it there. I let others test out that puddle for me.... :)

<Rant mode> I'm taller, but not by that much. I push the seat all the way back, recline it until I'm almost lying down, and still have issues on long trips. I wish the heck design engineers could figure that out. I can't stand driving lying down, which is pretty much what I'm stuck doing. Freakin' worthless designers... </Rant mode>

There, I feel better now.
