I was quoted 1k to $1200 for AEV lift install and alignment. Is this high? Also is anyone running an AEV lift if so how do they like it?

Not running the AEV lift so can't comment other than to say that most people who own AEV products seem to think that they're pretty good. Any reason you're not installing it yourself? Best way to get intimate with your Jeep. I'm replacing the 2" spacers on my Jeep with 2" springs when the weather clears up. I'll probably take the spacers and fab up the rest of the stuff needed to lift my grand-daughter's Jeep at the same time. You'd be surprised what you can do yourself, and there's certainly never a shortage of volunteers in this group to hold a wrenching day and help a member install upgrades on their Jeep. All you have to do is post it in here, I promise that if people can make it they will.

They quote 10-12 hours install on their website and I don't have a garage to do it in or jacks ect. I also don't want to be without transportation for very long also don't know how to align or setup a suspension but I think the actual wrenching wouldn't be an issue but I don't want to accidentally mess something up or get stuck on a frozen bolt and not be able to deal with it with only hand tools plus it would probably take even longer with only hand tools. I'm also having trouble deciding on the lift. I am taking a vacation off work at the end of the month and would like to do it then.

Well, $100 per hour labor is not bad when the shop doing the work does not supply the parts. Did you get an estimate with him supplying the kit? You might (might, not will) find that his labor rate goes down, which might lower the total cost as opposed to bringing your own parts.

100 cheaper, I may go to Keene Jeep dealership in NH since the can do it in one day for 2725 and a bit of a discount for getting everything from them. They also have a backup camera that works with factory nav full warranty on all the jeep even twisted shafts axles housings ect as long as you are not braking them every weekend. I dont know about the kits that are made for JKs. I think its more important to get a complete kit as it will have all the brackets shocks,springs to do the job right --- once ! A lot of kits only have springs , or springs and shocks. With your Jeep you need brackets to lower the track bars , may need adjustable control arms. Look into a complete kit that some one has already ,that will help you decide whats right for you or at this time in your build. FjR68
