Picked up a Rough Country adjustable track bah and have a question. It came with better-than-it-shipped-with-from-the-factory grade 8 hahdware but not the crush sleeves (ref photo 3 and 4 on link) http://s3.amazonaws.com/roughcountry/in ... 108500.pdf

I'm thinking the idea behind the sleeves is to avoid wallowing out the new holes in the frame. If that's true, I was thinking of possible options and this is where you come in

Option A - go to HD for some copper tubing, with the correct ID for the bolt. Cut it so either end protrudes from the frame rail by maybe 1/16" and if my calculations / guess is correct, torquing down the bolt will (might) give the same result as a crush sleeve. Understanding getting the correct length could be a real betch

Or option B, weld some 1.5 - 2" washers to either side of the frame, washers with an ID that's the same as the bolts OD. Pretty sure I saw that used as a DW fix when the factory bolt hole got elongated

The primary purpose of the crush sleeves with the kit are to prevent the box of the frame from crushing inwards as you torque down the bolts that go thru the frame. The kits sleeves don't "crush" they are intended to prevent crushing.

I'd avoid option A & B.
I'd recommend finding some tubing of the correct ID for the grade 8 bolts and drill the frame holes the OD of the toob you buy.

And this, boys and girls, is why you should always ask if you're not sure. That's awesome Kurt, really appreciate the info and links. This install is going on my list of winter projects. Fortunately it's a short list. The jeep gods are smiling on me

What Kurt said . I would question why they (crush sleeves) Werent in the kit. Are they on the parts list supplied in this kit ? Call the MFG. of the kit or supplier . My 2pennys . FjR68
