Got a kid looking to lift his 06 TJ. He thinks he needs a 6" lift to clear 35s. He also wont be going to 35s for a couple more years. I put a 2" BB in it at Christmas. with 31s. His game plan is to go 33s first till he gets coin for gears , a true-trac, and 35s. Yes the turdyfive is still in there. Will or will not 35s fit with a 4" lift. I told him we need lift MM and a T-case drop kit. Would a 1" BL fit 35s . Thanks FjR68

I have a 4.5" Rubicon express with 35s, with little room to spare.

I have 2.5" OME lift, 1 1/4" body lift, 33's fit fine, when I switched to 35's I had to change front fenders and trim rear fenders a bit to clear. Some think a huge lift is the only way to clear bigger tires but it can be done with a smaller lift and a bit more work. The belly clearance I lost sticking with the short lift I made up for with a flat skid.

I have 4.25" BDS lift, 1.5 JKS body lift, and front tube fenders and I clear 35s with out any issue. I like the look of tube fenders so my advice is do that and keep the lower COG with less lift.

I run a BDS 4.5 short arm in my TJ. 35's seem to fit fine with no rubbing.

TJs need a flat belly, IMO.
I see no point in lowering something (skid plate) to add lift.
SYE and drive shaft w/upper adj rear control arms first.
Then 1" body lift.
Then motor mounts or MM spacers.
The flat belly. (A flat belly on 33s is better than a stock skid under a tJ on 35s.)
Then a 4" lift kit (assuming stock fenders and no cutting).

And no Rough Country. There's a time and place for RC - Never and In The Trash.

Aww, don't be so mean to Rough Country. My RC lift is 4 years old and hasn't given me an ounce of trouble whether it's crawling up waterfalls in AZ or driving cross country.
