automatic rubicon and trails

Before I get made fun of, I got an automatic Rubicon for personal reasons. I wanted to know by having an automatic does that limit me doing a lot of the trails around here? I was thinking of joining if I was still able to get off road. The photos and topics look to be something I am interested in but I do have an automatic jeep. Thanks for the time.

Autos are fine and popular. I'd highly recommend adding a transmission cooler.

Several of our members have automatics and it doesn't seem to really make a difference. I've never actually wheeled an auto myself, but when I bought my Rubi I seriously considered it as it's mostly a dd. I ended up going with the stick, and sometimes when I'm stuck in traffic I find myself rethinking that decision...

I've run an auto XJ for years. Definitely no regrets about it. Makes some technical areas easier, not quite as good in others.
For someone learning offroad driving techniques the auto is more forgiving in many situations.

The only problem I could see is if something happens and I'm asked to move your Jeep. I don't know how to drive auto. This has actually happened a few times and I had to ask someone else to move said Jeep.
Some people love their auto, my friend was hit by a car while he was on a bike and can't drive anything but auto. He wants to get a Jeep and come play.

I am going to assume this is a joke.

Slightly, it takes me a few minutes to figure out how to turn one on. Seriously where is the on pedal, and stopping takes a minute or two. And downshifting, yea I end up in neutral. There is too much thinking for me to want to drive an auto.

We have 2 JKs in the family, an Unlimited with an auto, and a 2-door with a 6-speed. I've wheeled both of them, as others have mentioned it makes some things easier, other things not so much. Like the difference between an unlimited or a 2-door - the longer wheelbase makes some obstacles harder, some easier. Nobody's going to make fun of you about having an automatic (except Meg, but she makes good cookies so we let her hang around anyway).

The best is my mom is the opposite of me, I can leave my Jeep blocking hers and she won't touch my Jeep. (Im picky whith who I let move/work on my Jeep)
Long story short I wasn't once and almost died.
