Why you ask? Because it incorporates quantum dots for better color reproduction. (Triluminous backlight) Who's quantum dots? The ones from QD Vision, my old company. So if you buy more of these TVs then QD Vision sells more quantum dots which means they grow as a company which means my stock is worth more which means I can buy more jeeps parts and more food for offroading trips. So if you buy this TV it means you will get more free food from me!

I was looking for an excuse to ditch my 64 inch model (it's OK but come on only 64??) and you're telling me I can step up to an 84 inch AND support that nasty eating habit I have??!! Now that's a WIN!

When my son moved out he took the 55" (portable) TV out of the man cave and now there's this gaping hole where a Trilogy-inducing-something ought to be so yeahhhhh.......

sorry to say Carl, the quantum dots are only in the 55" and 65" models, so stepping up to the 84" won't support that nasty eating habit!

FYI, they are just putting demos into Best Buy's Magnolia sections now... seriously go check them out, the picture is mind blowing!

I've had some issues with some products with that name on them, so I'll have to wait until somebody else starts making tvs with quantum dots. Strangely enough, I have 3 Visio (I know, Sony makes them) flat screen tvs and love them. I've had much better luck with them than the Sony branded products that I've bought.
