If you own a 2012 JK, you might want to get it checked out. Major engine failure, currently 7,500 customers are waiting for new engines to be delivered/installed.

Yep, defective heads. I heard (without reading your article) that a portion of the head (s) have a casting issue with insufficient cooling.
The first sign is called "the Pentastar tick" (typically starts on cylinder 2).
I guess there's something to be said for the reliable minivan engine in the earlier versions.

Sound like the guy who thought 2 little Phillips screws to retain a brake disc were a good idea worked on that project...

Just to be an ass about word usage, I think we mean "defective" Pentastar engines. I don't think there's and danger of the Pentastars defecting to GM or Ford
Honestly, the 3.8 isn't exactly known for its bulletproof reliability either. Known oil consumption issues to the extent that Chrysler's official position is that burning 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles is "acceptable." They'll get you to 100k, after that seems to be borrowed time.
....and I thought it would be a good idea to supercharge mine
