Brake problem

My boss sent me the following message:

My son recently bought a 2008 Jeep Liberty. He's been having trouble with the front left brake caliper. It will engage the rotor and not release, causing the brake pad to heat up, turn red, and the car starts shaking. Stopping for a while and letting it cool down completely usually resolves it. Dealer couldn't reproduce it. They tried bleeding the brake line, but it didn't help. It's happened three times now, most recently last night, on their way here from NJ. Finally arrived at 2am. Ugh! Have any of your Jeep friends experienced this? They aren't sure what to do next....

Anybody have any ideas on cause/fix?
Thanks in advance!

I cant believe the dealer didnt just change the caliper as they and everyone else knows its the issue.

Definitely replace the caliper.

I would check for a warped disc and replace the pads. May need to flush fluid as well, if it boiled.

Both front calipers should be changed. They should be done in pairs.

A rusted caliper piston/bore is most likely the problem (as other said)
Piston sticking and not releasing as it should.

Since the rotor was "red" it's been overheated.
Both rotors, calipers and pads should be replaced.
Do it right.

Thanks, everyone! I suspected replacing the caliper would be the way to go, but it seemed too obvious for the dealer to have missed. I guess it's just a case of them not wanting to do the work.
