so i have some issues/questions about the brakes on the new to me dana 60. i was told they are eldorado calipers (through there is a ford badge on the bracket). the ebrake has a funky hookup that is supposed to work on the caliper. also, i have some potential clearance issues for the shocks, so i was thinking about flipping the brakes to the frontside of the axle. then i may have to figure out a custom ebrake cable hookup. here's a quick pic of the caliper:



anyone have any experience with these? any concerns with a front-slide mounting beside ebrake cables? bleeder? anything else?

I don't know much about your ebrake cable issue, but there should be no concerns with mounting the calipers on the front side of the axle. 99 and newer Super Duty trucks run one caliper on the front side and one one the back side. (this is a cost saving measure for ford, as they only have to make 1 caliper. Works on both R&L sides)

Ryan : I have Eldorado calipers and those look just like them. Mine are from a 92. They gave you some funky adaptors with them but I ran the cables to the arms then cut the housing and used barrel locks to hold them in place. Its a little barrel looking thing with a set screw , you tighten down on the cable. The screw is at one of the long ends and the cable goes through a hole in the middle of the narrow side. I used two to make sure. Just call me Mcgiver ! FjR68

so the axle is in! and the brakes... kinda work. i've bled the system twice now and the pedal is still quite spongy. I think I've figured out how to adjust the ebrakes, but I can't seem to get a firm pedal. any tricks on bleeding these bad boys?

Ryan : You have to bleed those calipers off the mounts as the bleeders are in a funny spot and wont let all the air out. You just hold it in your hand and tap the body while holding the bleeder vertical. Just let gravity do the work. Small hammer taps to make sure all the air comes out. Ask me how I know that. Rt. rear, Lft. rear , Rt. front , lft, front. is the order. Try it again bud. FjR68

franky, it helped, but the pedal is still soft! any other tricks to try or just do it again?

See if anyone up your way has a pressure bleeder you can borrow. The only other way would be to have someone in the cockpit pushing down on the pedal for you and hold pressure while you open the bleeder. What type of cap on your MC ? Round,rectangular,metal,plastic. Im going to exit 38 on 495 on sun. I could loan you my pressure bleeder. Are you close to there. Doug found me a chassis , so were pickin it up. FjR68
