Spring compressor

So, over the weekend Andy (big Thank you to Andy!!) and I swapped out the shocks on my WK with new Bilstien units. The WK has coil-over shocks in front, so a spring compressor was required.

The installation/removal isn't that complicated a job, but I seriously considered trying to find a shop to swap the springs rather than handling it myself since spring compressors are notoriously dangerous... In the end I got this unit from Harbor Freight:

I paid $60 at the local HF store. I was a little concerned about the mixed reviews, but I got the job done, the tool worked well for the $, and didn't appear to be prone to the issues the "cheap" spring compressors usually have. The online pic looked fairly flimsy to me, but the unit is pretty solid. If someone else needs to do a strut or coil-over shock and needs to compress a spring I'd say to try this unit out.

If you don't have struts, you could always wear it to a Marilyn Manson concert.

I have one of those Jon, you could have borrowed it. It's made by OTC, a little better quality than HB.

Didn't think to ask. I'm sure the OTC one is better than this one!
