Body trimming question(s)

I am looking at putting armor on my tub (so it doesn't look like Joe's YJ after a while. Not that there's anything wrong with that). I need to open up the rear wheel openings before I hang the armor. Not sure how to go about that. Is it as simple as just marking the cut line and trimming off the excess with a cut off wheel? Grind it down and paint it?

Recommendations? Lessons learned? Horror stories? Anybody?

Thanks in advance as all input is helpful (mostly).

I let the sawsall guide me.

Actually, when I mounted the rear TJ flares, I mocked them up, added blue masking tape and cut along the line. They fit pretty well and are almost big enough to stuff a 38.

It's still close enough to Christmas that when I saw the subject I thought "Why does he want to put lights, ornaments and tinsel on his jeep?".

Matt and I put TJ flares on his old YJ, did it the same way Joe did. Hold the flare up, mark it with a sharpie, and go to town with the sawzall. It worked great.
