weird light issue...

So Im trying to get my jeep ready for state inspection and toward the last day at RC the passenger side driving light and side marker light went out in the front of the jeep. I inspected the wires coming from under the hood and going to the fixtures. I didnt see any breaks or chafing of the wire, so I replaced the side marker light and that is now working fine. i had an extra bulb for the front light and that didn't solve it. I tried the "working" bulb from the drivers side and no joy their either. Can it be the light socket assembly that holds the bulb has gone bad?
Pic of the culprit below... I;m stuck in the Midwest until Thursday night but hope to get the jeep inspected Friday so Id like to order the part if that is the cause..

Jeff : Id check to see if there is power at the socket before going anywhere else. You already tried the working bulb , ats not it ? Got to look for power . FjR68

A continuity tester is cheap and easy to use. A lite lights up with a good ground and power. Will prove a bad ground also. Using a multi meter in the ohms setting , nothing turned on , will check the circuit for a broken wire or connection. Will have some type of reading if circuit is good. No reading is an open circuit. Try that, should be a simple fix. Jeff , Ive seen a vehicle with two different fuses , one for each side but never one for a corner of a vehicle. FjR68

If the contacts in the socket have corroded it may be an easy fix if you scuff up the terminals a bit with a screw driver or something and add some contact grease.

It turned out there was corrosion on both end of the socket both at the wiring harness end and also on the contacts for the bulb. A little scouring with some folded sand paper and it worked. :D Actually it was quite jeep, at first it didnt work I went to tell my neighbor I wasnt going to borrow his lift to swap out my tires for inspection then after walking back to the jeep the bulb had found contact...
