so whats it mean when your jeep gets really mad driving down the road and makes this horrible "CCCCHHRRRRRKKKK" noise then a "BAM!" then your clutch pedal go's half way down and is a brick.. and if you force it any more than it will stall the engine... just curious because that's what my jeep decided would be the best thing to do while driving home on 93N.. i had to powershift all the way home and shut the jeep off at lights and start it in first gear. it was chill..

im guessing its more than likely there is a 90% chance that its 100% blown

any suggestions on clutch kits?

I think the Luk kits are what people recommend.

Don't know what happened to your clutch, but it doesn't sound good. I would have had it towed rather than powershift home. Definitely plan on changing your tranny fluid as well.

What ever happened to your axle?

My first guess would be a totally blown throwout bearing.
May have also popped the clutch fork fork off the pivot ball too.

It sounds like it's borken.

i ended up finding an old XJ sitting at carworld and just for shits and gigs i looked under it and it had a tirdy5 under it so i ripped it all apart and got the carrier spiders and ring for $50 so now im just left with the ring that i didn't need.. im thinking of doing somthing artsy with it.. also the gear lash looked "Ok" but will check it agin when i put in my pinion seal.. OH YEAH!! anyone wana help with that i already have the seal..

so i got around to trying to get the duster shield off and didn't have an E12 at my disposal to get the starter off and just ended up taking the slave cylinder off.. i first noticed that my spring was going around the slave cylinder and coming out.. so thats shot.. then i felt my finger inside the bellhousing and i could move my fork 1.5" every way (up,down,left,right) so i borrowed an E12 at work and will take the starter off along wit te duster sheild and get a better look at it today... their might even be pictures if im lucky :

but anyways i have the old slave cylinder setup and also a brand new LUK slave from when i baught that ax-15 to convert my jeep but ended up selling the tranny itself to a friend who needed it bad and i kept all the extra's.. so that will be fine just need to buy a clutch kit... and LUK dosn't make one for my engine

IIRC, if you're careful, a 3/8" 6 point will fit an E12.

ok so got my trans off and down and i have some really good news and some really bad news

Good news!!!
*i didn't snap any bolts and all the nutserts stayed in place
*all the bolts came out like butta when they broke loose
*my trans is not blown and shifts mint
*i wish their was more good news

BAD NEWS!!!!!
*the front bearing retainer snapped
*the throughout bearing seized to the front bearing retainer and snapped it and ground it down
*my throughout bearing's bearing's were ground down to dust
*my throughout bearing came out in 4 big pieces and 20 little specs..
*my pressure plate's fingers are ground down
*my clutch disc is as flat as a pancake (no more meat left on it)

what the bearing retainer should look like and costs $116.99 new if anyone has one used for an ax-4 or ax-5 let me know

where did you get the Front Bearing Retainer from? because i dont really feel like shelling out a total of $240ish (which includes clutch kit and FBR and the seal

clutch kit is on my kitchen table and front bearing retainer is with it also... spent more than i needed to on that stupid FBR but at least the jeep will finally move
