Sturbridge Tornado Cleanup Pics

Here are some pictures from the Sturbridge tornado. The tornado missed our house by a 1/2 mile, but ripped through several of our friends houses and did a lot of damage. While it's unfortunate that 4 people lost their lives, it's a miracle that we didn't lose more.
Our friends house in this picture was quoted just over $25,000.00 (<- NOT a misprint!) to have the yard cleaned up. Not knowing what they were going to do, we all pulled together through the Scouting and sports programs and russled up over 100 volunteers (friends!) to head over and Git'R Done.
We all pulled about a 12 hour shift. We had some decent heavy equipment, but overall, used our sweat and tears to move a LOT of wood. The consulation for me was free firewood, but I would have done it if I didn't.
It was really great to help our friend today and Angie and I will be bouncing to other friends houses to help until we're not needed. It really is that bad. Unfortunately, the damage we helped with today is shadowed by the destruction that occured in Brimfield and Monson. The damage makes you cry. I'm hoping we can come up with a way to help some of those folks too. Maybe make some new friends.
Our afterwork victory dance.
