D44 (un)limited slip

I have a Trac Lok (AKA Trash Lok) pushing my rig and was looking at possibly replacing the clutches. Spent a while Googling clutch replacement and after getting past all the haters, there's not a lot of info out there. Other than you can get them for about $70 - $80
Does anyone have any experience replacing the clutches on a D44 LSD? I'm not in a hurry to replace clutches, and I might not do it at all. My heep holds it's own on the trails (at least the trails that I like running) and I'm not looking at a selectable locker. I read through the factory SM and I don't have all the 'special tools' (but I do have a BFH and a crow bah) and some of the steps didn't make a lot of sense, but I only tore into a diff one time, and that was under adult supervision
So since I'm not going selectable locker, is clutch replacement worth it? Or is replacing the clutches a PITA and probably not a good ROI?
