Dana 30 knuckles

Hi guys; I just had a real nice HD D44 built at Mitchell Diff. and I need to decide on what knuckle configuration to use. Should I use the stockers which are being a "*****" to get off or should I go for a set of Reid racing type knuckles? Like I said, I seem to be having a bit of a problem getting the stockers off my D30 spindals. I tries blunt force (BFH)...no deal. I tried heat, not working. Going with the penetrating oil method now then the BFH. Anyone got any suggestions? Email me at >> easterncalibration@verizon.net <<

I have been reading a lot about the Reid Racing knuckle setup with the high steer. Sounds like a very nice option....

BFH and hit it in the right spot. Hit the bottom first, as the top ball joint on a later Dana 30 is not a load bearing joint (locating only).

I have the same front axle except with CJ outers. Did you have the option to run the CJ's? The ball joints on a CJ knuckle are both load bearing and stronger than a unit bearing knuckle.

Reid knuckles are nice but very expensive. A complete conversion including brakes, spindles, hubs, rotors and steering components could be somewhere in the $1.2K range. A high steer setup also mess up your track bar angle so you might have to re-do your brackets as well.
