Chris: It looks like a good pattern, I just cant tell how deep you are in the ring gear. If your not on the bottom and when you rotate it by hand , close your eyes and feel for any ratcheting or bumping as it rotates. Good to go. We all know if you screw up , youll know in about 4 miles or so.

If you click on the photo, you will be able to see larger versions.

Now when you say "deep" are you referring to how tight the pinion and ring are together (backlash) or pinion depth vertically (shim stack)?

I think Frank was talking pinion depth.
Did you put some load on the carrier when you rotated the pinion for the pattern check (hold the palm of one hand against the edge of the ring gear while turning the pinion)? Doing so helps to get a cleaner read of the pattern.

Looks pretty close, you might want to add a little to the pinion shim pack.

The pinion looks too deep to me.

I am going to remove .003 - .005 from the shim stack and adjust the rest as needed.

You decided to try running the gears I had in the D30?

It still looks good to me. Feel is real important! Is it SMOOTH ????? You said they are used so there must have been a good pattern to try and match to. A picture isnt as good as being there. Dont go and take it apart if you feel its smooth and matched the old pattern. It lasted this long ! FjR68
