4.0 engine question

Anyone ever remove the oil filter adapter that bolts to the block? I know it's a torx, T55 IIRC, but it's in an XJ and boy is it tight getting the torx bit and ratchet in there. And once it's on we couldn't break it loose.
Need to replace the o-ring behind it.
Any suggestions?

Pour a bunch of gasoline on the area first though, it speed up the removal process.

I think it's a T-60 torx.

Agreed....
I just tried a T55 in the filter adapter on the XJ 4.0 in my garage. The T55 bit is definitely too small.
Didn't want to try and break it loose without the right bit.

I Knew it was one or the other, we had the right size but it wouldn't budge. Going to try heat next.

If you have room - get a 1/2" drive T-60 bit and put it on a 1/2" drive sliding T.
Insert the bit into the bolt and apply rotational force in the direction you want it to turn. While applying rotational force, smack the sliding T with a good size hammer on the top of the T. It will turn.

I posted this question on the NAXJA forum, what a bunch of a$$ wipes. I posted the exact same thing, with the same title.
One guy replied with good info to try, the next guy comes back (in full caps) "ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE NO PERTINENT INFO REGARDING THE VEHICLE BEING ASKED ABOUT. ENGINE SIZE, ALLEN, TORX, OR HEX BOLT"
I replied with "the title says 4.0, the first post says it is a torx bolt, how much more info do you need?"
Then it started, with the exeption of one guy shooting me a PM with useful info (also saying he would have posted in the thread but was afraid the first guy would yell at him), every post after that was slamming me for not giving enough info.

Some of those NAXJA guys can be real A-holes. I have been a member of the "XJlist" on yahoo for years. They are a good group of guys and have alot of usefull info. (most of the questions you would ask on those lists could be answered by people on this list anyways)

And that's why I'm not a member of NAXJA. Few times I've been on their forum (while Google searching stuff), all I've seen is Divas and A-holes fighting amongst themselves and giving newbs a lot of crap.
Doug, if your torx bit has a hex shaft you can try using a box wrench slid over it with a cheater pipe for leverage and possibly a pry bar to keep the bit tight in the bolt.
