Smokin'

I finally got to drive Donna's JK yesterday. Everything seemed fine till we got home - smoke coming out from the driver's side rear wheel. When I crawled under to take a look, I could hear the rubber parts on the brake caliper sizzling - and that's where the smoke was coming from. I'm assuming it's a frozen caliper, but won't know for sure till I take it apart later. Any thoughts on whether it might get that hot if it was a bad bearing, not the caliper?

I doubt a bad bearing would heat up enough to cook caliper parts.

If a bearing was that far gone, you'd hear it before you'd be seeing smoke.

I haven't been able to find on in the aftermarket. Looks like I'm stuck going to Jeep for it.

Any chance your warranty will cover it?

Truck's been out of warranty since February, 10. Not bad, only cost $50 plus tax, no core. I'll probably get a new piston & seal for the old one ($25 or so) to have a spare on hand.
